Text Appearing Before Image: (1272) and theVenetian envoy Odoric of Pordenone, who traversed thisroute, the latter about 1320, record traditions that definitelyattach the Three Wise Men to certain cities. Odoric expresslysays that Kashan, or Cassan, as he calls it, was the city ofthe Three Kings and that these worshippers set out fromthere to Jerusalem, which they reached by divine aid in thir-teen days.* The passage in the account of Odoric de Por-denone reads as follows : — De la Cite de Cassan. — De ceste cite men alay vers la grantInde par mer.
